RSTA-DSS (Reconnaissance, Surveillance & Target Acquisition Decisiton Support System)
empowers company and platoon leaders to do more with less. The software adds value to the
Army RSTA process by:
- Decreasing planning time
- Increasing probability of mission success
- Reducing costly and dangerous field emplacements
Missions supported include intelligence gathering, force protection, and critical
infrastructure protection that involves platform and sensor selection, maneuver planning and
placement, and data fusion. RSTA-DSS helps unit leaders to select and employ a variety of
RSTA tools in an integrated fashion, both their own and others provided to them from higher
organizations, including:
- Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
- Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV)
- Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS)
RSTA-DSS combined Ultra Electronics, ProLogic’s sensor mission planning and
visualization tool (Megalodon) with EMSolutions’ SNAP inference engine
technology into a seamless warfighting solution. The easy-to-use interface allows
RSTA mission planners to develop and integrate tactical mission information
requirements with technical platform and sensor modeling to prepare for sensor
emplacement.
RSTA-DSS was developed under an SBIR Phase III contract with the Intelligent Systems
Branch of the US Army Armament Research Development and Engineering Command
(ARDEC) under the guidance of the Asymetric Warfare Group.
Mission Planning and Decision Support
RSTA-DSS assists planners with course of action development by considering planning
guidance, specific information requirements and priorities, platform/sensor availability and
performance, and constraints related to threat, terrain, weather, and control measures.
RSTA-DSS aids with “what-if” platform maneuver planning, placement of sensors, and
computes range to target, line-of-sight, and communication analysis. Outputs include an ISR
matrix, emplacement coordinates, and advanced 3D animation for mission rehearsal
