The United States Visitor and Immigration Status Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) program provides a comprehensive IT solution set of security measures designed to track the progress of an individual’s visit to the United States, from determination of visit eligibility through arrival, visit proper, and ultimate departure from the United States. A dynamic, interoperable system, the US-VISIT program is currently used by the Department of Homeland Security to collect, maintain, and share information on foreign nationals, in support of the four established goals of the Department:

• Enhance the security of U.S. citizens and visitors
• Facilitate legitimate travel and trade
• Ensure the integrity of the immigration system
• Safeguard the privacy of visitors to the U.S.

US-VISIT uses biometric information such as digital, inkless fingerscans and digital photographs, to assist the Department of Homeland Security in ensuring that the person applying for entry to the United States is the same person to whom the Department of State issued a visa for travel. Additionally, the program checks biometric and biographic data against watchlists, improving the ability of the Department of Homeland Security to make admissibility decisions, as well as the ability of the Department of State to make visa determinations. US-VISIT entry procedures are currently in place at 115 airports, fourteen seaports and the fifty busiest land ports of entry. Once fully implemented, US-VISIT will be able to monitor the status of a target visitor while he remains on U.S. territory, alert authorities if the target violates the terms of his visit, and confirm the departure of the target individual.

The Accenture Smart Border Alliance (SBA) team is responsible for the development, integration, deployment, and maintenance of the IT systems comprising the US-VISIT program. Ultra Electronics, ProLogic serves as a second tier SBA contractor, providing the functional expertise in Quality Assurance, Configuration Management, and Software/System Testing necessary to ensure the viability, interoperability, reliability, and robustness of the systems that comprise the US-VISIT solution. In this role, Ultra Electronics, ProLogic is an integral part of the SBA, fulfilling responsibilities that range from developing plans, approaches, and detailed procedures in each functional area (QA, CM and testing) to the execution of these procedures across the spectrum of the IT products that comprise US-VISIT. The implementation approach, plans, and procedures developed by Ultra Electronics, ProLogic are fully consistent and integrated with Accenture’s CMMI maturity level 4 program.
